The Appeal of Monasticism.

I recently read this article by Mark, a Catholic blogger in Scotland. He describes his stay in a Gaudiya-Vaishnava (Krishna) monastery in California, a few years ago and his appreciation of his time there. I thought you might like it too...

It's the second article from the top. Mark's blog "Rise and Pray" is thoughtful and interesting, as he writes of his search for God.

Thanks for the mention! My time at Audarya, and the subsequent years of association with Gaudiya Vaishnavism changed and enriched my life.

That was a good read! I also lived in a Gaudiya-Vaishnava monastery for several years - though not in such gorgeous sunshine and rurality (?)as Mark's. I refer to none other than the Belfast Temple! But though the weather was not so good, we temple devotees felt the sunshine of Krsna-consciousness in our hearts. They were the best years of my life. I'm happy to be able to visit this blog now and then and recapture a whiff of that time. Thank you!

Thank you Mark and Dominic for your comments.

Monastic life is appealing to me too, but it's not for everyone, all of the time. I think retreats are a good middle-ground for most people. A week or weekend every now and then helps to refresh the spiritual batteries.

I just ran across The Chronicles of Radha-Madhava. Thank you for presenting Krishna consciousness so sublimely and sincerely. I plan to continue visiting this site for spiritual insight and inspiration.
Hare Krishna!
